The rock duo that is transforming the world, one song at a time….

“Cyborgs, as established by author Donna Haraway, are not reverent. They do not remember the cosmos.”

Sacred Machines is a rock duo, formed in 1988 by Dave Carruthers and the artist known as RE-VO, and re-united in 2020. It is a semi-progressive band whose work is rooted in deep critique of modern and postmodern civilization, with its emphasis on the unsustainable practices of materialism and consumerism. Sacred Machines also explores the developmental psychology of humans, and of the creatures to whom science-fiction titan Kurt Vonnegut referred as “sacred machines.”
Sacred Machines have released two albums: Hide n’ Seek (1988/2020) and Zero Footprint (2020).

December 2025:😔It is with a heavy heart❤️that I announce the passing of my beloved friend Dave Carruthers (1957-2025). Please visit RE-VO’s YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/macguy99 and view the “Sacred Machines” playlist to hear six of the 17 songs we wrote together. Visit https://sacredmachines.ca/the-musicians/ to read more about Dave and his work, both as a marvelous lyricist and as a world-class drummer. If there’s a Rock n’ Roll Heaven, have no doubt: Dave is jamming with Hendrix and Lennon now.🥁 R.I.P., dear brother. Much love, from Mac🙏❤️
